WHAT IS COSMIC ECOLOGY?

ECOLOGY

Life is rare in the universe. Rare things are precious.

The Earth is our homeworld. We know of none other.

Therefore, we hold that the highest good is the protection of Earthly life.

TECHNOLOGY

We believe in the power of science and technology to improve lives.

Technology has led to more people living longer and better lives than at any point in history.

It is the only hope we have of safeguarding the existence of life across aeons, and our only hope for a better future among the stars.

SOCIALISM

But we cannot do so if we continue to be held back by capitalism.

Unrestrained capitalism has led to the Sixth Mass Extinction. It has impoverished millions. The continued existence of capitalism is an planetary existential crisis.


Society must be radically transformed in order to unlock our potential for unlimited flourishing.

...And this transformation can only be achieved through socialism.
ECOLOGY

The Climate Signal


The genesis of Cosmic Ecology comes from an understanding of two main ecological facts: first, the "hockey-stick graph" which shows that presently-observed global warming cannot be explained without accounting for human activity; and second, the recognition from Gaia Theory that the presence of a biosphere acts to maintain a homeostatic equilibrium on Earth that makes the planet habitable for life.
